Autumn Color in a Swamp
First Session: November 7-11, 2025
Second Session: November 10-14, 2025

Spend Time Photographing Autumn in a Swamp
Caddo Lake is a mystical place with a prehistoric feel. It's more than a lake, it's a wetland, it's a swamp and home to the largest bald cypress forest in the world. Caddo lake borders both Texas and Louisiana. The Louisiana side has the open waters one might call a lake with scattered cypress trees rising out of the water but quickly changes to a maze of islands made up of cypress forests and dark waters as you approach the Texas border.
These islands of cypress trees with their hanging Spanish moss make for a magical journey as the summer turns to fall, covered in a palette of colorful warm hues. No place else on earth mirrors the adventure you will encounter through the narrow channels and dead ends filled with colorful cypress forests found on Caddo lake.
Photography Workshop - What to expect
Swamp's are simply forested wetlands, but oh so beautiful when the autumn color appears. Anything can happen during this time of year, misty mornings, fog cover, color changes as each day passes and of course new photo opportunities as we awaken each morning.
This photography workshop is sponsored by Adam Jones Photography and lead by William Manning. Both have lead workshops on Caddo lake over the past several years and their groups have all been rewarded with a collection of photographs unmatched in other fall photography locations. This fall photography adventure is certainly different and one you'll remember for a long time.

No worries about getting lost as we have hired the best boat captain on the lake who knows every inch of these waters. He will get us into places others never see. Each day there are two outings on the lake, one during the beautiful morning light, often with a light mystical fog rising from the waters surface.
The second outing starts in late afternoon when we venture into the back waters for incredible reflections of fall colors on the water, patterns of craggy trees entangled with each other and eventually meander into the open water for sunset.
Our afternoon breaks will allow us to have lunch and meet and talk about our photography we created from the morning session and William will share techniques he uses when photographing in the situations we encounter. Our discussions will be dictated by your questions. Equipment, camera settings, field techniques, processing and critiques are all open for discussion throughout the time we spend together.

Easy Going
The physical level of this workshop is very easy. Most of your photography will take place on a boat with plenty of space to move around. Our captain has two boats, a pontoon and a flat bottom boat. Both have their advantages and depending on our needs we may experience time on each boat.

Drone Photographers are welcome. You must have either your Trust Certificate or Part 107 to fly. You must also be comfortable landing your drone in your hand in a safe manner.
